What should I wear at a Monterey Singles event?
We leave this up to you! But, we recommend that you wear something that makes you feel comfortable and/or stylish.
What should I not talk about at a Monterey Singles event?
In order to create a safe, comfortable and enjoyable evening for everyone, there are 3 subjects that you are not allowed to discuss at any time during a Four Minute Dating event:
- You are not allowed to ask anyone for his or her contact information. This includes their phone number, last name, e-mail address, business card, or their address.
- You are not allowed to ask anyone if they would like to have another date.
- You are not allowed to ask sexually explicit questions, use lewd language, or say anything that might be interpreted as threatening or as sexual harassment. Please be polite and respectful or you will be asked to leave.
I am separated but not yet divorced. Can I participate?
Monterey Singles is all about events that help people meet other people. If you are looking to meet people, you are welcome to attend. Just be forewarned that not everyone will feel comfortable with your situation, so be aware of this.
How long after an event will I find out if I have any matches?
Matches are compiled within at least three business days and will be sent out as soon as they are processed. We try to process matches as soon as possible so that you may begin to explore the possibilities of a second date.
Why does the event start 20-30 minutes after you ask us to arrive?
We ask people to arrive early so we have time to check everyone in. If we start the event before everyone arrives, then people end up sitting alone. After you check in you can have a drink, and mingle with some other people who have arrived at the event.
Will there be enough men/women there for me to meet?
All Speed Dating events have equal numbers of Men and Women. Sometimes, due to confirmed attendees not showing up, the number is uneven by one or two. However, rest assured that there will be an almost exactly even number of men and women at our events.
Can I pay when I get to the event?
To participate in an event, advance registration and payment are required. However, if we have a no-show and you are first in line at the event, then it’s possible that you can get into the event. You will need to complete a late registration form with your credit card information before participating.
Do I have to use my real name?
At an event, most people will use their real first name, and we don’t use your last name. However, if you prefer not to disclose your first name, you can use any name you like. Just keep in mind that the name you use will be on your nametag and people you meet will refer to you by that name.
I cannot attend the upcoming event. Rather than canceling, can I have a friend take my place?
As long as your friend is of the same-sex.
I don’t have an email address. Can I still participate?
You need to have an e-mail address in order to receive Confirmation of whether or not we have a place for you at the event, and to receive your matches after the event. If you don’t have an email account, you can sign up for a free e-mail from a variety of web sites, such as Yahoo! (www.yahoo.com), Hotmail (www.hotmail.com) and Gmail (www.gmail.com)
